2007 Reunion 31 August – 2 September 2007 2007 is set to be another superb year for the Red Eagles. Alongside a full programme of operational deployments and exercises, the Squadron will also support NATO and UK tasking from its home base, Royal Air Force Waddington. Despite this demanding schedule, the Squadron is looking forward to welcoming back former members and old acquaintances at the Association’s Annual Reunion, which will take place over the weekend 31 August – 2 September 2007. Reunion Format The Reunion will start with a Happy Hour event, in the evening, on Friday 31 August. On Saturday 1 September there will be various activities at the Squadron, throughout the day. There will be an opportunity to fly the Sentry Dynamic Simulator and Squadron personnel will also provide a guided tour of the Sentry AEW Mk 1 aircraft. In the evening, there will be a formal meal in the Officers’ Mess. On Sunday 2 September, a church service will take place at the Station Church. Squadron Families’ Day The Squadron will hold its Families’ Day on Saturday 1 September to coincide with the Association’s Reunion. This event is a great opportunity for present and past members to get together and share war stories. It is also huge fun for the families. The Families’ Day is an informal event for everyone connected with 23 Squadron, no matter what his or her age, rank or background. A Hog Roast and an open bar usually contribute to the convivial and relaxed ambience. You can expect to see Captain Scarlet – the Squadron’s mascot from the Raptor Centre in Cambridgeshire. The Squadron’s History Room will also be open for anyone wishing to delve into the archives. Invitations Invitations will be posted in due course to all those on the Association mailing list. Should you require any further information in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact the Squadron Association Liaison Officer, Flight Lieutenant Kev Simpson, at 23 Squadron. |
